Born in Dourados/MS and raised in Esteio, in the Greater Porto Alegre/RS area, Professor Mônia Kurrle Feller Albrecht began her classical piano training in 1990 at age 6. In 2000, she studied under Prof. Dr. André Loss during a University Extension Course at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). In 2004, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Piano from UFRGS. In 2006, she took advanced practical piano lessons for a semester with Prof. Dr. Alexander Djordjevic in Chicago, USA. In 2011, she became a Specialist in Piano Pedagogy at the Brazilian Conservatory of Music in Rio de Janeiro, forming part of the first postgraduate class of its kind in Brazil. In 2017, she earned her Master's degree in Literature and Arts from the Amazonas State University (UEA). Her thesis, "Piano Teaching for 5- and 6-Year-Old Children: Pathways for Teaching Practice," was advised by Prof. Dr. Edoardo Sbaffi and co-advised by Prof. Dr. Carla Reis. She also holds a degree in Literature from UFRGS (2009) and is a Specialist in Brazilian Literature from the same institution (2007).

Professional Experience

Mônia has 20 years of experience giving private piano and keyboard lessons to students of all ages (children, adults, and seniors) and levels (beginner, intermediate, and advanced intermediate). She provides lessons fully taught in English to foreign students.

Mônia has taught piano in Esteio, Porto Alegre, Rio de Janeiro, Manaus, and Pirassununga.

In addition to her home lessons, standout professional experiences include directing the Music Academy at the Colégio Adventista in Esteio/RS (2002–2009) and teaching group piano in the After School Activities program (2011–2012) at the American School of Rio de Janeiro (EARJ), where she was also an assistant teacher (2011–2013) before moving to Manaus. In Manaus, she taught piano at the Amazonas Music Conservatory.

In Pirassununga, starting in 2018, she joined the Espaço Música Viva school, expanding her role as a piano teacher and further strengthening her connection to music education.

Throughout this journey, teaching has remained the core of her pedagogical practice. In 2022, she began a new professional chapter by joining the military while staying active in education. Until 2025, she served as a Portuguese Language professor (higher education) for Cadets at the Air Force Academy.

She is currently based in Canoas/RS, continuing her military career by participating in military training. This experience reinforces a teaching approach guided by method, discipline, and a commitment to development—principles that she consistently applies as a piano teacher.
